Yes that certainly was the point of this
thread - to help myself & others make an
informed decision and not necessarily to
bash X10 - they have many fine products.

Without research where would civilisation be?

Now back to the original point:

Comparison................
I think they created these forums so
everyone can fix problems without bugging
them on the phone. Anyone want to buy a
CM15A, cheap backup box with the same
problems you may have with your existing
box.

X10 deserves all the bashing they can get.
They continue to sell a bad product to
unsuspecting people that just want to make
their homes a little more comfy. If they
had any decency they would have halted
production, pending repairs and they would
recall all the bad machines they already
shipped. They could have done all that
but hey, they would have lost some money,
they decided to just let the issue blow
over, anyone up for ripping everything out
just to send a faulty unit & software
back. Smart $$$$$ decision X10, but shame
on you for being so corrupt.

I have read almost every post on this and
numerous other threads of X10 forums. Yes,
the initial post was seeking inputs. There
were both bad and good suggestions, then the
inputs were choked off by a couple
individuals just having personal tantrums.
Some people are able to reliably use their
AHP setups and try to make suggestions.
If you gotta complain, do it and be heard in
a few posts but don't keep going on and on.
I want to learn from the people that are
making it work, not by people that cant
accept that others may be smart enough to
solve their setup problems so they spam the
board just as bad as X10 markets at every
chance.

I think we are seeing a bubble of
frustration finally coming out, I'd bet
this rash of bashing will subside as those
burnt move on. Some of it's healthy. So
those that do not want to hear it, stop
reading for a bit, let the tide go out. I
hope X10 takes some (just a little maybe)
of this to heart because I'm sure they
could learn and maybe improve a tiny bit?
Hard to do I guess when you get hit with a
bazooka.

Basher,

My Ex would agree with you.
For your info though, I have my AHP working
with well over 60 modules and probably just
as many macros. I also have the SH
controller but prefer the CM15A for ease of
programming, dusk/dawn, and translation of
my older AH files.

Once you get your AHP working, it is nicer
than the SH product in my opinion. I found
to get the CM15 to work, your setup had to
be much cleaner than that tolerated by the
CM11 or SH. But those of us that got it to
work aren't as smart as you bashers.

I had mine working very well also but had
just had it when the latest problem
surfaced, service people drove me nuts and
the forums were useless in finding a
solution. I have had the opposite
reaction, SH product is easier to use and
the software is better than the cute one
AHP built. Let's talk in six months and
share success stories between X10 and
SmartHome. hope your home stays out of the
dark.

Dump the CM15A and AHP software, buy a real
system, buy SmartHome's products.

We need to start a forum for spouses to
voice issues with our husbands working
their butts off trying to make this product
work. I want my spouse back, I want the
house lighting automated, my friends have
husbands that spent a few extra bucks and
installed a better system. I'm listening
to some of the forum chatter and agree with
some, it's time to move onto a product that
works. Hope you read this Hubby!

Just an FYI here, I changed the user names on
a bunch of posts here because they were all
from the same person. We don't mind
criticism, but we think it's important when
sharing information that other people who
read these forums be able to know who's
posting what.

The saga continues. Michael, I've told
you repeatedly that there has not been a
change on my end !!!! I disabled my router
and Visrus software firewalls. I turned
them off.... Please listen to me.

And for those of you that believe X10 does
not police / edit the responses on their
forums, you are misguided. Latest section
of email from Michael of X10:

"Just so you know, I changed the user name
on some of your posts on the forums. We
don't mind criticism, but we think it's not
fair for other users not to know when some
replies to a post they made themselves, and
so on.

Michael, how pathetic, I'm a paying
customer, I have a right post things on the
forum, even if you don't like them.

X10 Pro,

Thanks for exposing the reality I
suspected. You do a great job always being
positive while dealing with people. A lot
of Users appreciate your efforts and the
fixes that X10 has prepared when we
encounter problems.
