y connection for mulitable cammeras
« on: February 26, 2008, 12:34:21 AM »

Does the y connection effect the cameras ? Will the output impedance of the the cameras effect each other since they are tied together?
What would the results be if two power supplies are turned on by accident for even a short period of time. Would this shorten the life of the cameras.

Thanks Ken

More details please. Are you trying to tie Wired or Wireless Camera Receivers together?

Wired Cameras. The  impedance of the camera's out put when connecting two cameras in parallel with a y connector. Normally one power supply is turned off and one is turned on. The impedance of the one turned off ( video signal) is still tied to the one that is on. This should put a load on the
output of the one that is on. If this does not effect the life of power supplies and cameras or degrade the video some what ;  I wonder if the cameras have a high impedance gate in them when the power is removed.

Appreciate the time.
