All Hands Hoay! X10's Treasure Chest Has Been Opened
All Hands Hoay! - That's pirate speak for "All Hands on Deck!" and when you hear it, that means you need to take immediate action.
I'm getting my Pirate lingo down and even putting on the Pirate Garb for X10's New Treasure Chest promotion. As you can see from the included photo, I'm taking this seriously.
You see, if I learn all the pirate lingo and master the pirate look, I just might get offered a spot with Seattle's Seafair Pirates! Now that would be some real fun!
But, closer to home here at X10, my goal has been to come up with the most outrageous bargains in X10 history. It's no easy task when you consider our long history of incredible deals - day after day after day! So, I've been doing some pretty unconventional deal making of my own to pull it off.
First, I got a hold of the X10 factory parts buyer and sent him on a hunt for hidden treasures among our suppliers. I didn't care how small the quantity, all that mattered was Price. It had to be a tremendous value that would allow us to deliver deals that shock our customers and get them talking.
Then, I corned Bob, our Chief of Warehouse Operations, and challenged him to dig deep into the catacombs of every X10 warehouse for everything and anything that I could offer. Again, the only criteria was that I had to be able to set the price so outrageously low that it would create an instant buzz across the internet.
Just to make it fun, I told him I would put on one piece of Pirate Garb for every 100 items he found. As you can see from the photo on the left (That's Bob), it has paid off. So, to keep my word, you can see that for today's deal, I'm wearing a sweet pirate's hat and eye patch. Bob's still looking for more X10 treasure and I've got plenty of Pirate Garb ready. Stay tuned.

Hey Steve,
How about drumming a COMPLETE starter kit. I mean include what the average home would need for security and home automation in one package.
While you're at it; NOW THIS IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE !!! Include software for Apple Mac users. We buy your products buy AHP then have to turn elswhere for the software because the software that you do include is Windows only. My House Online should also be Mac compatible. Come up with something and I will personally premote it at my Mac Users Group meetings.
A reply would be greatly appreciated.

Jim,
I would love to have an ActiveHome software version for the Mac and have been pushing for it here for a long time. Unfortunately, developing software comes with a significant cost and we must be able to show enough sales potential for that to make sense.
As an alternative, what if we could provide the protocol and technical information necessary for someone in your users group to be able to write MAC software to control the ActiveHome interface? Do you think anyone would be interested? How big is your user group?
We have had lots of interest from the Linux community and I expect we are going to provide this for them. It shouldn't be much harder to do the same for the Mac.
Does your user group have a blog or forum? You could kick start the discussion and we could work together towards a solution.
Regarding your idea for a whole-house kit, I like it! We've tried to combine some things in the past but have never hit on the perfect combination.
Personally, I would want a New ActiveHome kit with all the software upgrades. Then, I would add a fully loaded Protector Plus security system to cover a three bedroom house. For video surveillance, I would have four XCam2 cameras. One Low-Light camera I would mount at my front door. Two XCam Wide-Eye color camera on Ninja Mounts - one for my back yard and one to watch over my driveway. Finally, I would have an XCam2 on a Ninja mount to cover my family room and kitchen area.
What would you put in a whole-house kit and how much would you be willing to pay for it?
