Apparently the rumor from Grape & Vine was purposely started by the Bandit himself in order to put Inspector Ecksten of DOBT off the trail. Officials have let it leak out that they suspect members of G.U.M. (Get Us More) aiding the Bandit by providing him with Boozaka bubble gum which he chews and then leaves on the floor of X10 Headquarters in order to slow down the security personnel chasing him. As to the peanut & banana sandwitch, the Bandit is said to be an avid Elvis Presley fan.
